Afghans have a deep love for bread. It is always on the table and served with almost every meal.
One of the most beloved Afghan breads is Rot Afghani-Afghan Sweet Bread, or Afghan sweet bread. It is enjoyed after meals, at breakfast, or whenever you are craving something sweet. What makes this bread special is the topping of black caraway seeds and poppy seeds, which add flavor and texture. To give it its traditional look, a fork is used to make small decorative holes across the surface.
Rot Afghani is always best served with a warm cup of cardamom tea. In Afghanistan, tea is more than just a drink—it is part of everyday life and an essential part of hospitality. Guests are always welcomed with tea and treated with warmth.

Cardamom adds not only a pleasant aroma and taste to the tea, but also health benefits. It is known for its antibacterial and therapeutic properties. To add cardamom in tea, remove the seeds from the pods and crush them gently or grind them using a spice or coffee grinder.
